Connecting Legacy Properties with Next Generation Innkeepers
"In 1999, as I was preparing to leave Northern New Mexico to attend culinary school in Montpelier, Vermont, my aunt gave me a brand new copy of So You Want to be an Inn Keeper. She knew that my dream was to one day own a small inn. The last 25 years have taken me on quite the adventure working for some of the world's most acclaimed boutique hotels. While many things have changed over the last two decades, my love for food and hospitality has remained the same. While my dream of owning an inn has become a reality, I have also watched several of the innkeepers I respected as a young chef, forced into closing their properties at retirement. Over the same time I have met dozens of aspiring innkeepers who are struggling to navigate the path to one day owning their own property. The goal of Piñon Hospitality is to connect the owners of legacy properties with a new generation of innkeepers. We provide resources and training to insure these one of a kind destinations are honored and preserved." Co-Founder John Cox

Our Team

Piñon Hospitality founders and managing partners, Aileen Shea and Reagan Hastings bring a fresh perspective to the art of hospitality. They entered the hotel world with advanced degrees in communication, hospitality and business, but have taken an old fashioned approach to learning operations, working their way through every department, from kitchen and housekeeping to front desk and human resources. They believe that in order to succesfully operate a boutique inn or bed and breakfast you must have a small and dynamic team where each member is confident in all aspects of the operation.

John Cox and Julia Felder are co-founders of Piñon Hospitality and serve as strategic business advisors. Julia has a background working in private equity, but moved on to pursue a Masters in Philosophy from Cambridge and a dual degree in patisserie and cuisine from Le Cordon Bleu. John has been cooking for as long as he can remember and spent two decades working as Corporate Chef for some of the world's most acclaimed luxury resorts. John and Julia met while working at The Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, California. They purchased the historic Orcas Hotel in The San Juan Islands of Washington in 2020.
